(1) Cataloging Librarian:
The Petroleum Institute Libraries and Independent Learning Center is
seeking an innovative and experienced Cataloging Librarian to lead the
Library’s cataloging activities in designing, implementing, and
assessing a wide range of processes to provide access to the Library’s
scholarly resources in all formats.
Working closely with Acquisitions Librarian and reporting to the Head
Librarian, the incumbent will play a key role in implementing the
strategic vision of the cataloging area. The Cataloging Librarian will
be responsible for the implementation of RDA and leads in local
implementation of changes in national standards, rules, and best
practices. He/She will evaluate and make recommendations for web
interface improvements in close collaboration with Systems and
Information Services Librarian. Through the management of and quality
control in the cataloging unit, sets priorities, allocates resources,
and develops plans, policies and practices within the department and
designs and develops new workflows in all areas of library resource
discovery / access along with other department heads.

(2) Acquisitions Librarian:
The Petroleum Institute, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates invites
applications for the position of Acquisitions Librarian. The position
requires a strong background in academic acquisitions work with
experience in collection development and be able to operate in a
hands–on capacity. The position reports directly to the Head Librarian
starting as soon as possible. The responsibilities of the position
include, but are not limited to the following: Establishing policies and
work practices to meet the rapidly changing work environment; Managing
the increased demand for library materials in all formats to meet the
evolving needs of the student body, faculty, as well as external
accreditation requirement; Ordering, receiving and invoice processing of
library materials in all formats, including serials; Monitoring and
reporting on the acquisitions budget; Development, implementation and
operation of acquisitions and serials policies and procedures; Managing
acquisitions module of the ILMS; Monitoring the materials budget with
appropriated financial records for serials and monographs; Preparing
reports as required; Developing and maintaining faculty profiles for use
with the preferred vendor operation; Managing contracts for electronic
resources; Participating in collection development; Assisting at
reference desk as required; Performing other duties as assigned.
