Hi

I'm trying to come up with a policy for what proportion of the price to display on item records for multi-part works at the point of check-in, for replacement cost purposes. (on Voyager).

We treat each part separately, check-in and create item records for each. We are not sure how to enter the price. Should the amount be split (eg 4 volumes divided by 4) or the total on one of the items and zero on the others? Or, put the full amount on each item ? If it is blank or zero the system will generate an invoice to the borrower showing the default price of $90.
Of course if the part that is lost can be replaced without buying the whole thing again, then we could enter just the portion into the system, but at the time of purchase and check-in we usually don't know. I've thought of creating some kind of pop-up note to say "multi-part work, price to be confirmed".

Our discussion led us to wonder what other libraries do, and I'm hoping you will be happy to share this and perhaps suggest an alternative for handling multi-parts that we could think about.

Thanks
