We call ours "Just for Fun" and place it on a small set of shelves by our
entrance. Selection involves a combination of gifts, plus I spend a small
amount on some "best sellers." Our materials are cataloged as JFF and an
acquisitions number, rather like a public library setup. We leave them on
the shelves and once every six months, I get a report of those items that
haven't circulated (this is easy when we have them cataloged as JFF...). I
make a decision about whether to keep them for another six months. That's
my personal judgment. After the second six months, if they haven't
circulated, they're gone to Better World Books. I should also say that our
summer quarter isn't very busy, so I tend to leave books on the shelves for
another six months if I'm assessing them in mid-summer.
