ALCTS webinar: Really Mystified: Creating the Chemistry Sudden 
Selector's Guide

Date: August 22, 2012
All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11am Pacific, noon 
Mountain, 1pm Central, and 2pm Eastern time.

Description: Elizabeth Brown, author of the Sudden Selector's Guide to 
Chemistry Resources, talks about her new book and highlights her unique 
perspective as a selector for chemistry content of all kinds. The 
webinar will cover the steps involved in creating a volume in the 
popular Sudden Selector's Guide Series and Brown's experience with 
gathering the resources and advice for new selectors in chemistry. A 
similar session about the Sudden Selector's Guide to Biology Resources 
will be held on August 15, 2012.

Who should attend? Librarians new to selecting in chemistry; high school 
chemistry teachers; school librarians; public librarians with collection 
development responsibilities

Presenter: Elizabeth Brown, Scholarly Communications and Library Grants 
Officer, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Materials Science Liaison, 
Binghamton University Libraries.

In her role as Scholarly Communications and Library Grants Officer, 
Elizabeth creates campus services and programming in all areas of 
scholarship including intellectual property, open access, digital 
repository policies, and legislative initiatives. She has been at 
Binghamton since 1998, and currently serves as subject liaison for 
Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy, Mathematical Sciences, and Materials 
Science. Previously she served as Science Library Coordinator and as a 
Science Reference Librarian/Bibliographer. Elizabeth received a BA in 
Chemistry from the University of Virginia, and MS in Chemistry from the 
University of Pittsburgh, and an MLIS in Librarianship from the 
University of Texas at Austin. She is active in the Special Libraries 
Association, serving as President of the Upstate New York Chapter of SLA 
in 2007 and in the American Chemical Society, serving as Chair of the 
Binghamton Local Section in 2009.
