ALCTS webinar: Using the Library of Congress Classification H Schedule

Date: May 2, 2012
All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11am Pacific, noon
Mountain, 1pm Central, and 2pm Eastern time.

Description: This webinar will cover some of the more complex aspects of
using the "H" schedule to create classification numbers, including use
of various kinds of tables, special topics, and subdivisions for
industries and trades.

Learning outcomes: At the end of the presentation, attendees will be
able to:

- Shelflist according to the Regions and Countries Table
- Use internal tables to subdivide by local geography, or firm name
- Apply external tables to subdivide by geography, form, time period, or
subject

Who should attend: :The presentation is geared toward catalogers with
some experience using the "H" classification, and thus will not cover
basic skills.

Prerequisites: Use of Classification Web is not required, since
classification numbers will be constructed manually, based on the
printed schedule and tables published by the Library of Congress.
Examples will be shown using the Class Web "Standard Browser."
