We recently received a title on a flash drive that was previously published in CD-Rom format. The title is Proceedings of the ... ASIS&T* annual meeting, ISSN 1936-1734.

This brought up several questions regarding new electronic formats:

* How do you secure the physical flash drive (or some future, smaller format)?

o How do you provide public access?

* How do you secure the contents of a flash drive if it is writeable?

o How do you prevent the spread of malware?

* Can you transfer the contents of the flash drive to another electronic format/device under fair use for archival purposes?

o If so, how do you limit access to one user if the copy is on a networked device?

* How are these formats designated in the 853 field?

If you have dealt with this issue, would you please share how you addressed these questions and any other associated issues you found?

Thank you.
