The Sheridan Libraries of the Johns Hopkins University seek an 
innovative, collaborative, service oriented individual for the 
Electronic Resources/Serials Acquisitions Librarian position.

RESPONSIBILITIES. Reporting to the Acquisitions Coordinator, the 
individual will:

• Coordinate serials and eresources ordering, renewal as well as 
establish trials and pilots for prospective purchases
• Negotiate licenses and amendments in coordination with University 
Purchasing and Legal Counsel to obtain the best possible terms and 
conditions
• Oversee electronic resource tracking in knowledge bases used for Open 
URL link resolution, electronic resource management, and discovery
• Supervise and train 4 FTE staff
• Design cost efficient, effective workflows
• Establish professional relationships and communications with 
collection development staff, vendors, publishers and consortia
• Communicate serials and eresources best practices with library 
departments to promote mutual understanding of renewals and license terms

REQUIREMENTS. ALA-accredited MLS and two years related experience. 
Knowledge of acquisitions business practices, including copyright, 
Intellectual Property, and licensing terms/issues in a networked 
environment. Experience negotiating and monitoring license agreements 
for electronic resources and serials. Knowledge of link resolver 
software, electronic resource management, and integrated library 
systems. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external 
colleagues. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication 
skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Commitment to 
using new technology to advance work goals and to enhance service.

PREFERRED. Three or more years of serials and electronic resources 
experience in a large academic or public library.
