Dena,
To play devil's advocate here, I've been in a number of libraries that had a
Librarian as Head of Technical Services, but did all of the acquisitions
work with non-Librarian staff. Part of it depends upon the size of your
operation. If the Head of Acquisitions is negotiating vendor contracts and
supervising a significant acquisitions staff, then you can probably justify
a librarian. If someone else negotiates licenses and the acquisitions staff
is small, you might be better served getting a bookkeeper/accountant with
supervisory skills.

Subject: [ACQNET-L] Justifying the position
Hello.
My administration is asking why we need an acquisitions librarian. Has
anyone else had to justify this position? Any advice would be welcome.
