We only use the security donuts on double-sided discs. So far, no
complaints. On the single-sided discs, we place a hub label, on which
we print the campus library and call #, on the disc, then apply the
security overlay. That ensures a smooth surface. Has worked well, so
far.

Our patrons had the same problems with those security "donuts" and we
have quit using them completely. We now put all our dvd's into locking
cases and use the single-sided book strips in the spine of the case.
