Stacey -
I don't really have many details, but
I know our cataloging department is also
very unhappy with some of the records we get from WCP.
They would like to rank the source of the record
or have some other sort of indicator of record preference,
but OCLC does not offer this as an option...
they *almost *seem like random matches.
At any rate, you should at least get an answer to your inquiries!
You might be able to have a cataloger review the report
that accompanies the load to let them review the records,
but that, of course, cuts into the time saving of using WCP in the first
place...
but it might be a good compromise for your library
if you still come out ahead on time/effort.
Some libraries get the WCP
records and shelf-ready books I cannot imagine what
their catalogs look like if they don't do any review of the record
with material in hand (but maybe they do...?)
All that said, I still think that getting the records up front saves time
and that we get more acceptable records than unacceptable ones
so while it's not perfect, it works for us.
And, I think this is a perfect acceptable forum for your question!
Kind regards,
