ITUNES: Anyone purchasing video for use with iTunes on loanable hardware?

I've been approached by the department head for the Audio / Video unit here in the Libraries and a pilot project is planned for using an iPad to circulate films for class content. The librarians involved in setting up the project are deeply committed to copyright, etc. My concern is one that is more practical in nature: How will we best manage the purchases of the digital materials that will circulate on these units?

Out of the gate, we plan to use our acquisitions department procurement card. We have one card that we manage for all funds within the department. We have a manual process for changing the internal budget charge on each transaction once it appears on the statement. I'm slightly concerned at the thought of added overhead once the pilot project moves to a production service as I anticipate it will. I haven't found any sort of invoicing plan available with iTunes, but it's possible I've missed something in my first review of the iTunes site the only methods of purchase are credit, check or debit cards-or an iTunes gift card. I'm wondering if anyone has tried that and if so how it's worked. Essentially, in our experience it would work much like a 'deposit' account, I'd think. Security for the cards would be a must, of course, and I'm concerned that we would not be able to buy this type of 'cash' on a procurement card and stay within University regulations-I'll need to check on that.

Anyone have experience or thoughts for a good way to make this a positive experience on staff who will manage the purchases?

Thanks in advance.
Mandy
