We have a different situation, also. We hope authors will donate a copy
to our library but that doesn't usually happen. We often buy
self-published titles because many times it is the only way we will get
that particular information. Many of our self-published titles are unit
histories, personal narratives, and such. Because we are a military
library, this information is valuable to patrons researching specific
military units both domestic and foreign. We also get self-published
titles about specific airplane models, battles, and weaponry. They have
their own set of problems but are worth the added trouble.
