Minimum 1 year experience with library electronic resources in an 
academic, research, or consortial setting including working knowledge in 
several of the following areas: ordering, licensing, activation, 
maintenance, renewals, cancellations, archiving, and troubleshooting.

Experience working with acquisitions and serials in an integrated 
library system, such as ExLibris' Voyager, and/or electronic resources 
management tools such as link resolvers and ERMS.

Demonstrated familiarity with established and emerging standards 
relating to acquisitions, serials, and e-resource management.

Knowledge of technologies and vendor services related to acquisitions, 
serials, and e-resources.

Evidence of ability to work independently and effectively across 
organization lines and in collaboration with a variety of individuals 
and groups, utilizing excellent interpersonal and collegial 
communication skills, both oral and written.

Demonstrated ability to organize work effectively, set priorities, meet 
quality and productivity expectations, and achieve group goals in a 
dynamic, team-based, academic and technological environment.

Proven commitment to positive, solution-oriented problem solving, 
providing quality customer service.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with licensing and license management issues.
Experience analyzing workflows and implementing efficiencies.
Aptitude for detail oriented work, including strong analytic and problem 
solving skills.
Experience documenting policies and procedures and providing staff training.
Familiarity with e-resource usage data, including COUNTER and SUSHI.

Principal duties:

This is one of two librarian positions responsible for electronic 
resource acquisitions and management. Primary oversight for ordering, 
receiving, paying, activation, and troubleshooting activities. Assists 
with license review and negotiation, and license terms management. 
Additional activities include monitoring of trials, platform changes, 
obtaining price quotes, product upgrades, collection analysis, and other 
data assessment. Develops expertise with emerging technologies and 
maintains awareness and engagement with trends and developments in 
e-resource acquisitions and management. Participates in and contributes 
to review of e-resource workflows. Collaborates in the implementation of 
best practices, ongoing pursuit of process improvements, and 
development/dissemination of policies, guidelines, and procedures. 
Participates on committees, task forces, and special projects related to 
e-resources as appropriate. Utilizes ExLibris' Voyager integrated 
library system and SFX link resolver.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison, General Library System is accepting 
applications for the full-time academic staff position of Electronic 
Resources Acquisitions Librarian in the Acquisitions Department. The 
title of Associate Academic Librarian or Academic Librarian will be 
assigned depending on the credentials of the successful candidate. 
Benefits include 22 vacation days, sick leave, group health insurance, 
life insurance, and a state retirement plan.

This position is one of 2 librarian and 2 classified staff positions 
that make up the Licensed Resources Unit. The Licensed Resources Unit is 
responsible for a wide variety of activities associated with electronic 
resources including licensing, ordering, invoicing, activation, 
maintenance, renewals, cancellations, and troubleshooting. Along with 
the Ordering/Receiving, Serials Control, and Information Processing 
Units, it comprises the Acquisitions Department of the Central Technical 
Services Division, serving 16 libraries of the General Library System. 
This position reports to the Head of the Acquisitions Department.
