January 2010

Dear Colleague:

The Membership Committee of the College Libraries Section (CLS)
encourages you
to continue your affiliation with this remarkable section when you are
renewing
your ALA membership. You can easily join CLS if you are not a member by
selecting CLS as one of two sections that are included with your
membership fee
as an ACRL member.

A sample list of CLS committees: Communications, Conference Program
Planning,
Leadership and Research for College Librarianship, Continuing Education and
Liaison to ACRL Committees. One of the more noteworthy programs that was
sponsored by CLS in New Orleans in 2006, Big Ideas, Small Staff can be
seen via
web cast at http://www.learningtimes.net/clsarchives.html.

Examples of the services that CLS provides are COLLIB-L, the very active
discussion list, the college web site of the month, which features
innovative
library web sites, and the Your Research Coach program which matches
aspiring
and veteran librarians who have an interest in getting their research in
print.

We welcome your participation in CLS committees - to volunteer please
complete
the form at
http://www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/divs/acrl/resources/forms/volunteer.cfm.
It takes
no more than five minutes to fill it out.

This is your chance to meet and work with colleagues who share the goal of
encouraging the development of library services in small and medium-sized
academic libraries, as the CLS mission statement makes clear.

Please visit the CLS web site for contact and other information. It is
found at

http://www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/divs/acrl/about/sections/cls/clshomepage.cfm.

Sincerely,

The Membership Committee
College Libraries Section
ACRL Division
