ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN IN LIBRARY SERVICES

Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities: 
The Collection Development Librarian is responsible for guiding the 
growth of the library collections in support of the University's 
academic programs by coordinating the selection, acquisition, 
preservation, and de-acquisition of library materials in all formats.  
Works collaboratively with library faculty and administration to 
position collections for maximum use.   Participates in resource 
allocation and planning.  (This is a tenure track position.)

Required Qualifications: 
ALA-accredited M.L.S. degree with minimum of two years of professional 
collection development/acquisitions experience in an academic library.
Experience with integrated library systems, especially related to 
acquisitions functions.
Experience with fund accounting and library budgeting practices.
Knowledge of collection development principles and trends, including 
experience updating a collection development policy.
Experience working with vendors and electronic content providers, 
including book vendors, publishers, and library consortia.
Experience in financial, statistical, and accreditation reporting 
practices and making presentations. 
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be 
effective in working within a flat organizational structure.

Preferred Qualifications: 
Experience with Innovative Interfaces ILS program, primarily 
acquisitions module.
Experience supervising employees and/or student assistants.
Experience working with a subject liaison program that includes working 
with teaching faculty.
Familiarity with trends related to digital acquisitions.
Familiarity with emerging cataloging principles.
Familiarity with spreadsheet, preservation, collection assessment tools 
and authoring web pages.
