Our Library uses Worldwide Art Books out of New York. We receive
Exhibition catalogues in addition to regular Art Books from them. We
are very happy with their service and the only area where we would
like to see improvement is their ability to send us Full Marc records.

Regards,
Anne

I would recommend Worldwide Books, http://www.worldwide-artbooks.com.
They are exclusively an art book vendor and specialize in exhibition
catalogs. We have had very good experiences with our approval plan
with them. David Fogel, dfogel_at_worldwide-artbooks.com, is their
approval plan manager. We do also have art approval plans with other
vendors who also cover broad subject categories.

The University of Texas Libraries (Austin) uses Worldwide Books for an
approval plan for art exhibition catalogs.  We also use Erasmus for an approval
plan for art books from the Benelux countries.

I am both an acquisitions librarian and an art librarian. I started
dealing with Worldwide Books in Philadelphia some years back, and am
very happy with them.  They have small plans that you can customize.
Their specialty is exhibition catalogs, many of which are also
university press art books. They also naturally carry museum
publishers and foreign publishers. You  can specify English.

They have new listings each month both online and in a catalog which
is sent to you. You can add things from these. You can get automatic
shipments of any size. They are excellent to work with and understand
the oddities of library funding.

I suggest you contact David Fogel  at Worldwide if you are interested.

----Original message:

Dear colleagues,
Our institution is interested in establishing an approval plan for art
books. I am interested in any feedback from the list about working
with specific vendors who specialize in art books (as opposed to art
approval plans with vendors who cover broad subject categories).

Have you had good or bad experiences you would like to share? Are
there vendors you would or would not recommend? Why?

Thank you in advance,

Stephen
