Hello everyone,
The survey will be open an extra week, until Friday, May 22. If you
haven’t had the opportunity to participate, please consider.
Thank you,
Joseph

Please forgive the duplication; this message has been cross-posted to
several lists related to acquisitions, electronic resources, scholarly
communications, and serials. Feel free to forward.

Dear Colleagues,

I write to kindly request your participation in a survey on libraries’
responses to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Public Access
Policy for authors who receive NIH funding to deposit final versions of
their accepted manuscripts to NIH’s PubMed Central database. These
papers would then become freely available to the public no later than 12
months after publication. How are academic libraries responding? The
survey will provide information on what methods libraries are using to
engage their campuses on a variety of scholarly communications issues,
including the NIH Public Access Policy, and how successful they feel
these efforts have been. Survey responses will inform a presentation to
take place at the Annual Conference of the North American Serials
Interest Group in June 2009.

The survey contains 25 questions and should take approximately 20
minutes to complete. You can exit the survey at any time. Demographic
data is requested in order to determine the existence and prevalence of
patterns related to scholarly communication outreach and education
activities.

Please follow the link to take the survey:

Thank you in advance for your time. The survey will remain open until
Friday, May 15, 2009. If you have any questions or concerns, please
contact Joseph Thomas (thomasw_at_ecu.edu).

Respectfully,
Joseph Thomas, Collection Development Librarian
