The University of Houston-Downtown is seeking an excellent candidate for
the position of Electronic Resource Librarian. UHD enrolls over 12,000
undergraduate and graduate students and offers daytime, evening, and
weekend courses through both classroom and various technology-enabled
mediums. UHD has received top rankings by U.S. News & World Report for
wireless Internet accessibility and for the diversity of its student
body. Houston is the nation's fourth most populous city and second
lowest in terms of cost of living among major American cities. The city
is home to 23 Fortune 500 companies and many other world-class
institutions in the areas of energy, medicine, aerospace, manufacturing,
and business services. The university's proximity to downtown enables
excellent access to these and the many other resources available in
Houston and the surrounding region.
Basic Duties:
- Manages the acquisition of electronic resources, as well as print
serials and other continuing resources, including the supervision of 2
support staff;
- Creates and maintains records to support the accurate and timely
acquisition of electronic resources for the library;
- Works with vendors and the UHD Contracts Coordinator to complete the
licensing process for new online resources for the library;
- Establishes and coordinates the processing of annual renewals for
complex eJournal packages and electronic databases;
- Communicates with vendors and publishers to expedite and sustain
access to electronic resources;
- Establishes and maintains electronic resource holdings information;
- Creates, maintains and analyzes statistical reports for the library's
electronic resources;
- Collaborates with peer professional staff to build the library's
collections acting as library liaison to an academic department;
- Participates in staffing the reference information desk, and providing
library instruction; and
- All other duties as assigned.
