We are very pleased with the service from Midwest Tape www.midwesttapes.com.
They recase the DVDs into secure cases with customized graphics for us, link
the copies into our ILS, and drop ship them to our 72 branches. All their
titles have brief or full MARC records, and they are partners with OCLC.
If we request an obscure title, they will contact the source and add it to
their inventory. They have a great collection of Bollywood and Asian films.
Before we started ordering from Midwest Tape, it took several months to get
DVDs from our other vendors. Now they are shipped to our branches by street
date, ready to circulate.

Subject: [ACQNET-L] Upgrading AV Collection
Dear Acqnet Colleagues,
My university library is in the process of upgrading a recently acquired
8000 piece AV collection. We want to replace many of these worn, or
damaged, or outdated materials to new electronic formats. (e.g. videos to
DVDs.) We are also investigating vendor-supplied services at point of
ordering such as physical processing and cataloging.
I would appreciate hearing words of advice from those who may have already
done a project such as this, or vendors who can provide not only the
materials but also the processing and cataloging for AV items. If it's long
and involved, I'll be happy to phone you.
Thanks in advance,
Best ,
