The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) invites applications
for the position of Head of Acquisitions and Continuing Resources, job
#538, a faculty appointment with rank leading to tenure. The successful
candidate will provide leadership and expertise in all issues relating
to the ordering and receipt of library materials.
The position supervises 3 FTE staff; oversees the ordering and receipt
of all library materials; supports budget planning through data
gathering and analysis; produces reports; oversees expenditures and
invoice payments; establishes and maintains relationships with
publishers and vendors; works with Ottenheimer Library administration,
the Collection Development Librarian, and subject librarians regarding
budgetary aspects of collection development; works with the Cataloging
and Electronic Resources Librarian to enhance access to online
resources; works with the Director of Technical Services to anticipate
and plan for changes in the nature and scope of library acquisitions.
The position reports to the Director of Technical Services.
The following qualifications are required: ALA-accredited MLS degree;
two years professional library experience in an academic or research
library; successful supervisory experience; experience in library
acquisitions and serials management, including vendor relations and
experience with a monograph approval plan; experience with management of
electronic resources; experience with electronic ordering, invoicing and
processing; demonstrated ability to manage detailed tasks; excellent
communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively
with a broad range of staff within the library; knowledge of standards,
trends and best practices in acquisitions, serials and electronic
resources management. Desired qualifications include: experience with
Innovative Interfaces, Inc.’s Millennium ILS system; accounting
experience; experience with ERM applications; experience with OCLC
PromptCat and/or shelf-ready vendor processing.
All library faculty are responsible for working collaboratively to
achieve University and Library goals and objectives. In addition,
faculty members must meet the requirements for tenure and promotion.
