Subject: ProQuest Books-on-Demand

Anyone know what happened to ProQuest's Books-on-Demand? When I asked
our ProQuest rep last month, he promised to find out, but then never
responded. And another person at my institution just queried ProQuest
Customer Service and got this mysterious response:
> Thank you for your message.
>
> There may be other vendors who can serve your out-of-print needs for
> scholarly books. I apologize that I don't have details on these
> options but you may be able to search the Internet for some
> alternative methods for storing and ordering out-of-print books.
>
> Thank you
> Rhonda Lewis
I did not use this service often, but when I did, it was because the
title I wanted was NOWHERE ELSE! It probably did not make much money
for them, and I suppose it always comes down to profit and loss, but I
wonder if they simply deleted all that content. Any real information is
certainly welcome.
