Subject: Replacement Costs for Lost Materials

Colleagues,

How do you determine what to charge users to replace library materials
they've lost? Do you charge a standard fee? A standard fee plus a
processing fee? Do you use sources such as Amazon, BIP, Alibris to
determine the price and THEN add the processing fee. Do you allow
users to purchase the lost item? Currently we use Amazon, BIP etc to
determine the cost and add a processing fee. We are investigating moving
to a standard fee and want to know what other libraries charge. We are
interested in the method of replacement and the fees charged.

If there is interest I will summarize.

Thank you.
