Our collection has pretty much stabilized at about 1/3 books and
AV (including standing orders and individual ebook purchases),
1/3 periodicals (including ejournals) and 1/3 databases and
large collections of ebooks. We'd love to have more monograph
funds, but with so many distance ed. students scattered around
the world we need the electronic resources to meet their
research requirements.

We're at approx. 7.5% of our total budget on monographs.
12% sounds good to me!

Subject: What percent should we budget for books?
Hi,
We're working on a budget proposal and we're wondering what percentage
we should use for books. This would not include print Standing Orders,
and it would include single-purchase ebooks. We're not a research
library so we're thinking we'd be on the low end.
I'd appreciate learning both what other libraries budget for books &
what other librariansthink is the usual percentage.
Thanks,
Fran
