Subject: Retirement Announcement from Janet L. Flowers
[Ed. note: Since the beginning of ACQNET-L, Janet has been a faithful
and frequent contributor. She has been a "behind-the-scenes" consultant
and general counsel for your editor. Due to the fact that Janet was my
very first library supervisor (as a student assistant and staff member)
- I will forever hold her in high esteem as a model of excellence in
acquisitions work and in managerial integrity. Congratulations Janet, we
will miss your regular contributions (and hope you'll stay active and in
touch]
Colleagues:
It is with a mixture of anticipation and sadness that I announce my
retirement from the University of North Carolina on April 1st, my
38th anniversary. I am sending this general message because I have
worked with many of you throughout the years and wanted to sincerely
thank you for the many times and many ways in which you have responded
to my queries with resourceful and thoughtful ideas. Thank you for
your generosity in sharing your experiences and expertise with others in
the field.
This is such an exciting time to be in the fields of librarianship,
publishing and vending so I know that there will continue be many
interesting and challenging issues to be addressed as you all move
forward together. I would like to wish all of you as much joy and
satisfaction in your careers as I have had in mine.
