"Our library uses DK Agencies for all our books from India. We haven't
purchased anything from as far back as 1970 recently, but they do seem
to have a decent backlist. I've never had a damaged shipment from them."

"Are always helpful, and the
website is usually up to date."

"They respond very quickly to e-mails, send invoices as e-mail
attachments, and you can give them instructions not to supply imprints
that are sub-standard quality. They have informed us in the past
before shipping items that we might find to be of poor quality.
We've used D.K. Agencies for years and are happy with their
service. Can't help with the Indian e-book question."

The other supplier mentioned several times was K.K. Agencies:

"They have always provided excellent service for books, and they accept
our purchase orders. You can specify that you will only accept books
in good condition. I don't think they've ventured into ebooks yet."

"They ship in reasonable condition and fairly quickly compared to some.
Most damage occurs during shipping and I believe they are sprayed by
customs or whoever in the government to keep down bugs they may bring-
hence the odour they often have. Hope this is helpful."

"California State Univ, Sacramento has used this supplier in India. Very
occasionally the binding has been broken; most of the time condition is
fine."

"When I was in a previous position elsewhere in NZ where we did substantial
collection development in asian history, culture etc., we ordered a lot of
books via Vedams. They were very good and the consignments were airfreighted.
We had very good service."

"We order books from India from the following two vendors (Vedams and D.K.).
Books usually arrive in very good condition, although sometimes with a musty odor"

Suzie Geermans also mentions:

"We also use Mary Martin Booksellers
http://marymartin.com at times, although the search facility of their
website is poor. We have not ordered any ebooks from that area though."
