Subject: Cataloging needs regarding vendor produced OCLC records
Hello:
I have seen this topic [level 3, vendor produced OCLC records] addressed
in the Catalogers listservs...
I would like to hear from Acquisitions/Tech. Services managers.
Are there concerns about the brief OCLC records that are being produced
by vendors and populated into WorldCat.
How does your library work with these records?
Are you satisfied with how you use these records?
*********************************
Does the vendor add them to your ILS on your behalf?
Does the vendor add your OCLC holdings on your behalf?
Does your staff work on the records before using them in your ILS?
Which staff level and when in the process does this happen?
Are you satisfied with that level of intervention?
Thank you for your time,
Brigida
