Subject: RE - Another Business Directory Scam (now on CD-Rom)

I have quite a file of invoices since I took this job 1 1/2 years ago!
Each company tells me they spoke by phone with one of our librarians here
(always the same one), and that she gave a verbal order. None have quoted a
PO number of any kind. We have received some books, a couple of CD-ROMS,
and the rest of the invoices are for an online listing.
The librarian in question assures me that she did not agree to any
purchase over the phone. I have written each of the companies, telling them
that we would not be paying and asking them to remove us from their
list. Here
are the names of the companies in my file:

their list)

10. International Business Publications Inc.
11. International Publishing Services
12. Internet Directory Services -- Internet Directory Services
Listing/National Member Registry CD IDS
13. NBI Network -- Listing in National Directory NBI
14. OIS Pages -- Internet Ad
I have found Rick Anderson's book _Buying and Contracting for Resources and
Services : A How-to-do-it Manual for Librarians_ to be a great help!
