Subject: Guides for Weeding (Public Libraries)

This request is directed primarily to Public Libraries. Arlington
Public Library is a medium size,
urban library serving a day time population of just over 400,000 and an
evening populations of 200,000 plus.
We have one main library and seven neighborhood branches.

When weeding the collection, we are using _The Reader's Adviser_ 14^th
edition as one of our guides.
Published in 1994, it is quite out of date now. What resources do other
public libraries use to determine
which titles should be retained in the collection, regardless of how
infrequently they circulate?

We appreciate your willingness to share you expertize and experience.
