Hi, there,

I don't know specifically about Amazon, but we had trouble
with another European site. The only thing we can think of is that the
choice was marked "MasterCard/EuroCard." EuroCard is a division of
MasterCard, but maybe it has a different numbering structure or some
such. We never got any answer why either, the site owner kept insisting
that they take MasterCard but that our card simply was being denied.

Well Mary, we just recently started using our state issued MasterCard with
Amazon.fr and it has worked out great. You might want to contact them and
ask them what the scoop is. Sounds more like a quirk with your card than
anything else.

Good luck.

This is not a good thing. We use University Purchasing cards and have
had no problem ordering from amazon.fr or amazon.de. The cards are
accepted. I hope this is not a trend in denying cards overseas. It is
much more practical than wire transfer and drafts.

Hello, everyone,

I hope someone on the list can help with this problem. Beginning last
summer Amazon France began denying our univeristy purchasing cards.
All other Amazon sites take it with no problem. Even the card with no
restrictions on it has been denied. We have not received any
satisfactory explanation
from either Amazon France or our bank.

Has anyone else not been able to use Amazon.fr to order material
because their credit cards were denied? If so, have you been able to
find out why? It seems to me that if one Amazon site takes our card
the others should, too.

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards,
Mary Harrison
