Subject: Another comment on Amazon
Amazon being receptive to a library's needs is a different discussion
all together. I quit
pre-paying Amazon when I discovered that all money sent to them went
into a big pot to pay
for orders as they were sent. Grant money got lumped together with
general money. It took a
while to get everything sorted out. <>
The College Business Office established a corporate account with Amazon
with various departments
having sub-accounts. The library would receive confirmations and
shipments for the other departments
on campus. The invoice was sent to the Business Office monthly. The
library couldn't pay for titles
received until that invoice was sent to the library. Very inefficient in
my eyes. <>
In the end the library dropped using the corporate account and went back
to using the purchasing card. <>
On a funny note, I've been gone from the acquisitions world for over 19
months. Amazon's tenacity
for remembering who you are is amazing. I still get recommendations for
items similar to what I purchased
at the community college in my personal account.
