Midwest Tape provides free brief MARC records to their customers that
are easily downloaded and usually very good, particularly on feature
films. In fact, our catalogers sometimes prefer their brief MARC
records to the more complete OCLC records.

Their phone # is 800-875-2785.
Their rep for the eastern US is Eric Timm.

Perhaps not directly Acq related, but...

Is anyone out there using a vendor to download short records for
audiovisual materials into their automation system? Our public library
consortium members want to be able to circulate this popular material
immediately, without having to wait for a full MARC record to appear in
the system. If you are downloading short records for av, as we already
do for books, what vendor and/or publications are you using, and how
successful is the process?

Thanks!
