Hi Michael,

 

There is a list of Collection Development Policies on the AcqWeb site

at http://www.acqweb.org/cd_policy.html  . However as you have 

probably discovered this is out-of-date and some of the links no longer 

work. I have been trying without success to have the link for the 

University of Auckland Library policy updated for some months and 

have had no response from Beth Mazin or anyone else at AcqWeb 

(if someone can tell me who to contact I would be grateful!)

[Editor's note: AcqWeb is going through some personnel changes right 

now.  It may be some time before the site is updated.  ACQNET editors

are evaluating our sister site's situation to see what we might be able
to

do to help.]

 

However the U of A policy is updated every year and can be found at 

http://www.library.auckland.ac.nz/about/biblio/cdp/coldev.htm

I cannot recommend too strongly that you build a review process into 

your new policy so that you do update it on an annual basis ("the policy


will be reviewed annually in [month] and revised as required"). We were 

advised to do this many years ago by Nancy Powell and Mary Bushing 

and have never ceased to be grateful that we took their advice. It is
amazing 

how much changes in a year, but by taking this approach you can keep on 

top of the changes and don't face the daunting task of a complete
rewrite.
