Subject: ACQNET: Operational Review of Technical Services Dept.

Good day:
I have been asked to do an operational review of my department,
Which includes both acquisitions and cataloguing. In looking at the
literature, I have come up with some mention of self-studies, but
these tend to be facilitated retreats. There are also articles on
reviews/evaluations of departments in terms of coping with budget
and staff cuts, but this doesn't seem to fit my situation either.

Lastly, I have found an article dealing with performance measurement
for acquisitions departments where you compare and rate yourself
according to an "ideal", but this also seems unsatisfactory.

I was wondering if anybody has done an operational review of his/her
acquisitions or technical services department and would be willing to
share methods, outcome, tips, etc.

If you wish to respond to me off-list I can summarize for the list.
With thanks for any assistance
