Subject: ACQNET: Materials Budget

[Editor's Note: ACQNET suggests that responses be sent directly
to the writer.]

The Monroe County Public Library, which consists of the main library,
A branch, a bookmobile, and a van, has a 2005 materials budget of
$1,016,400. In the past we have distributed budget increases based
on circulation, turnover rate, value of the collection, and filled
holds. We are redoing our materials budget and would like to look
at percentages for each type of budget category. I would also like
to know what percentage your materials budget is of your library's
total budget.

If there are any public libraries who read this list with a materials
budget between $800,000 and $1,200,000, I would appreciate a copy
of your budget so that I could determine what percentage you spend
on various categories. I would also like to know what percentage
your materials budget is of your library's total budget.

I would be more than happy to share my results.

Thank you,
