Subject: ACQNET:Vendors For Foreign Law Materials

Hello,

This is to let you know that our web page: Vendors For Foreign Law
Materials (http://www.uiowa.edu/~lawlib/vendors) is going to be
removed from the web on June 1, 2005. We are doing this because the
list is no longer current:  some vendors are defunct, some are no
longer recommended after all these years, and some of the listings
contain inaccurate information. It would require a lot of research as
well as web work to bring the files up-to-date. We regret that we do
not have the time, energy or resources to undertake such a project,
and we think it best to remove it rather than risk misleading or
misinforming anyone who might consult it.

If somebody decides to begin a similar project, it would probably be
best to start from scratch by surveying librarians and then
contacting the recommended vendors.  We proceeded in this fashion
because we felt that it was important that vendors be listed based on
recommendations from librarians who were satisfied with their service
rather than as a result of self-nomination.  But, of course, anyone
who decides to begin such a undertaking may have a different view of
such a list and wish to proceed in a different manner.
