Subject: ACQNET: RE: Leasing Plans
We have a leasing plan for best sellers. Our plan is for less than
1000 books. It is not a large plan or too small. The plan includes
novels in Spanish, large print, plus fiction and non fiction. It
took us a few years to figure out the mix of books and multiple
copies needed for our patrons. The cataloging is not the greatest,
but we can live with it since books are temporary.
It does require a full time person to review, select, and return the
books. It takes about 6 to 8 hours a week.
The books are very popular with faculty and staff.

Subject: ACQNET: Leasing Plans
Our library used to participate in a leasing plan for our best
sellers. It has now been many years since we discontinued this
plan, and we are now considering the possibility once again. I
would like to hear some of the pros and cons of participating in
a book leasing plan for bestsellers.
Thanks,
