Subject: AcqWeb is now www.acqweb.org

Dear ACQNET subscribers,

As mentioned in my last message, the transition of AcqWeb to Appalachian
State University has been in progress and I am thrilled to report it is
complete!
You may now change your bookmarks to the simpler address:
      www.acqweb.org

There will be announcements on a number of other lists, but we thought
ACQNET subscribers should naturally hear it first.

Re-directs from Vanderbilt University are in the process of being set
up. These should appear soon.

This transition has been in the making for almost a year. It has
involved a number of people, primarily Paul Orkiszewki and Anna Belle
Leiserson, but it has also involved many behind-the-scenes folks
including Tom Bennett (ASU Belk Library, Systems & Automation Team) and
Martin Moore and Terry Combs (ASU Information Technology Services).
Many thanks also go to Jody Combs and Ramona Madewell from Vanderbilt's
Library Information Technology Services. The ACQNET Editorial Board has
been on the sidelines, cheering them on. I have served as the primary
"nag" and peanut gallery!

Paul is in the process of familiarizing himself with the intracacies of
Anna Belle's code, and is pondering the re-design for the future. You
will be hearing more from him as time goes on.

Many thank yous need to be put forward for past efforts regarding
AcqWeb. Of special note, David Marshall of Georgetown University needs
to be acknowledged for the hours and hours of time he spent over the
years, helping Anna Belle with verifying links and everything else he
did. Other AcqWeb Editorial Board members came and went over the years
and also stood by and supported the effort.

What you will see on the new site is a slow but steady updating of
content. Until Paul gets himself a team to work with, he'll be slogging
along by himself, so please be patient.

We all know that AcqWeb, in spite of Google and other mass search
engines, remains a useful site for acquisitions people and others in
library land. With that in mind, we look forward to a new and better
AcqWeb.

Contact Paul (orkiszewskip_at_appstate.edu) with any questions or concerns
or if you want to volunteer to help!
