Subject: Business Directory Scams Advice Sought
[Ed. note: Be sure and check the ACQNET archives - see
http://www.infomotions.com/serials/acqnet/
There is a lot of traffic on this list about this topic and you can
probably find some useful information there]
Although I've been a librarian for 22+ years, I'm new to acquisitions
and the wonderful world of folks out to make a quick buck. The phone
calls have been unpleasant enough and now I just received an invoice
from UTP, one of the publishers listed on a scam list my predecessor had
in her files. Should I just ignore this invoice, or should I send them
a cease and desist? I know we didn't order anything from them and I can
tell by the way they addressed it that they harvested our name and
address from some outdated document.
Your advice?
Much thanks.
