In California, we have to pay Use Tax on items the vendor doesn't
collect
tax for. Some items are exempt. However, some journals for example, are
included or exempt depending on the number of issues in a year.

Subject: Sales Tax
Hi,
I have a question regarding sales taxes. As an academic institution,
do we need to pay sales taxes for books we purchase from an out-of-state
book vendor? I found out that some vendors (such as Bernan in
Maryland) charge us sales tax, but some vendors don't.
Does anyone know why? Your help is greatly appreciated.
