Subject: Acquisitions policies
We are in the process of revising our acquisitions policy, which is
nine years old & out of date. I'd love to see examples of other such
policies. The acquisitions policy is *not* the collection development
policy; rather, it's the policy that states how we select vendors and
other such issues. I'd be particularly interested in policies that
deal with relations with vendors of online materials, since our old
policy,
not surprisingly, doesn't mention that.
Thanks for any help! I searched the AcqNet archives, and found a few
thoughtful postings on the subject, but no samples. I'm particularly
interested in hearing from libraries that, like us, do very few firm
orders, and generally are responding to specific patron requests (i.e.,
"just in time" rather than "just in case").
