One component of our YBP approval plan involves award-winning children's
literature. We have selected a number of awards whose winners we want
to collect. For certain awards we get the books themselves; for others
and for "honorable mentions" we have slip coverage.

We tried, but couldn't get it to work right. We also tried setting up
the various children's book award winners on standing order, but we
found that we had to buy half of them ahead of the vendor in order to
receive a copy. If you solve the problem, let me know as we purchase
considerable Juvenile Lit for our Education College's programs.

Thank you.

Dear Rhonda,

Yankee Book Peddler has a nice Children's Awards Book Plan that we
have used for years. The Children's Awards Book Collection Plan is an
automatic acquisitions program for libraries developing a core
collection of award-winning children's books. It is also a convenient
selection tool for libraries without a children's literature specialist
to acquire quality children's books. For details of the plan, please
click on services at the YBP web site:

Dear Rhonda Smith,

Here at Harvard Univ., Grad. School of Education, Gutman Library, we
use YANKEE Book Peddler (YBP) for our Children's Books Award Winners.
We have had a Standing Order set up for several years now. They also
have an Approval Plan for whatever category of regular stuff one
decides upon--and probably have other offers we haven't used (yet).
You can go to their website (www.ybp.com) and check it out. They have
excellent Customer Service, and you can tell them I said so. Good luck!

Sincerely,

Judy Genthner
