Subject: Monographic allocation formula

Hello All,

It has taken me a while to join the list but I'm finally here. I look
forward to listening and contributing to the discussions.

At this moment I am working on an allocation formula for monographs and
need some help. I am basing a major component of the formula on the number
of degrees conferred by each academic department (weighted for
undergraduate, masters, and doctorates). My reasoning is two fold: 1) it
avoids inflated enrollment numbers and 2) is somewhat performance
based. If a department graduates more students, the library will support
the discipline more with its resources. Granted, the reward is a bit after
the fact but it's an approach that I would like to consider.

I would appreciate any discussion related to budget allocation models in
general terms or specifically using the number of degrees awarded (in part
or whole) to arrive at an equitable distribution of funds. Thank you.
