Subject: RE - "Rush" orders

Because we serve legislators & state government, requests from people in

our main constituency very often are rushes. These we try to get in
within 24 hours. We get a discount from the local bookstores, so we'll
try there first.

Ingram gets orders to us within 2-3 days, so if the selectors say that
it is a rush, but also that they'd like it within a week, we purchase
from Ingram.

On the other hand, since we started using procurement cards (credit
cards), our turnaround time for orders has dropped to something like 2
weeks. When we used Yankee & Emery-Pratt, average turnaround time was 8
weeks. Nowadays, our selectors don't worry so much about whether orders
will arrive in a timely fashion or not.
