Subject: RE: Vendors of Arabic language instruction for children

I have a book in print called Spoken Lebanese by Max Feghali (late
Appalachian State U. prof). It is not, however, for children. It is
meant for
US-born people of Lebanese ancestry who would like to communicate in
Lebanese Arabic. Apparently, there are a variety of Arabic dialects.

We have used Dahesh Heritage for Arabic materials. Their website
indicates that they handle children's publications, so they might be
worth a try:  http://www.aayp.org/Classified/dahesh.htm

I do not actually know of a supplier of instructional materials for
English-speaking children to learn Arabic; however I believe that you
could get this information from United Nations International School in
New York City. I would suggest that you ask for the school librarian;
even
if she doesn't make the actual purchases she would know who does.
Their phone number is 212-684-7400 and you can tell them that one of
their
Alums, Sydney Allen, suggested you call them.

Good Luck,
