Subject: The general marketplace trends
Hello,
I'm doing some research in preparation for entering an MLS program.
Could anyone tell me about how many applicants there are on average for
a professional librarian position in Acquisitions or Serials Cataloging,
or just generally in academic libraries?
Could anyone tell me if the trend is toward fewer positions in these
fields available, or toward more positions becoming available?
Is it common for librarians to have to seek work in non-traditional
areas?
As a "newbie" to this list, I look forward to hearing the collective
wisdom!
Thank you.
Cordially,
Heidi Arnold, M.A.
