Subject: RE: Audible (Audio) books
The very best place that I have found for audio books is Recorded Books.
(1-800-638-1304) They come in sturdy containers, and replacements for
broken
tapes, are free for the first year and only $5.00 per tape thereafter.
Sure beats
buying a whole new book. Of course they don't have every title but do
have a
wonderful literature and popular author collection. They are more
expensive but
very well worth it in the long run if you're not looking for a
disposable audio book
collection.
The next best place is Harper Collins, who will also replace free for
one
year (and sometimes a little more). But again they only have their own
titles. You must purchase your own plastic containers for circulation
though, as they just come in the little cardboard covers. They only sell
their
own titles.
Random House Audio is also excellent. They have not charged us for
replacement and have a nice selection. They also come in the cardboard
covers.
Baker and Taylor has a great selection, but no replacement policy. They
will replace only if the tape is defective upon arrival.
Audio Universe also known as Audio Literature has good prices for
regular
audiotapes but absolutely NO replacements. Beware of their used tapes
though as if it doesn't work when you get it ... too bad. However, if
you're looking for cheap, this is it.
Audiobooks.com has a good selection of popular titles but I'm not sure
about the replacement policy but since they never responded to my
inquiry I
would assume that they don't have one.
For all else I would have to go with Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble.
We catalog them just as we would a book and shelve them with the videos.
If anyone knows of any other good sources I would like to know about
them.
Thanks,
