I'm jumping into this discussion mid-way. Pardon any duplication of
info....

Was http://www.leer.nisc.com/ covered by a previous posting? This is a
free database [you must sign up for password] that is from NISC 
[publishers of Libros en venta]. You can use it in English and Spanish 
and can often get an ISBNor distributor for a title.

Also, http://www.submarino.com.mx can get me to an ISBN.  Although they
are sometimes different for U.S. publishers,  it can at least be a way to
verify title/author/year...
