Some people can be very hard to train. We took a different attitude-"how
can we make it easier for our requesters." By teaching them to put their
books on a "cart" in the vendor database, they don't have to do the typing
out of the whole order. For the most part, our librarians love it and we
can be pretty sure that we our actually getting what they want. With the
time saved on their end, they seem to be more willing to get full
bibliographic data on their end. We still have some faculty requests that
come in with confusing data. We use the time saved by from needing to
build carts for the other orders, to check with the faculty on the orders
which do not make sense. We do still have students make sure we don't
already own every order.
