I would like to personally thank all the seasoned librarians who came
"out of the woodwork" to recount their personal experiences and
document some of the facts related to the Gille publishing scams of
the past. ACQNET is not alleging any facts about what may be occurring
today - but there are plenty of factual, historical facts about what
went on in the past. Furthermore, we all know that "Caveat Emptor"
lists in this day and age beg for litigation - so we do not endorse
their compilation at this time.
ALA ALCTS obviously is no longer supporting such a list. However, if
ACQNET readers have documentable problems with suppliers to share with
colleagues, we will try to let you know about them.
Also - our archives are back "up," although the search engine is still
being tinkered with - it is usable. Search on "Gille" if you want to
learn what has been discussed about this topic in the past.
Sincerely,
Eleanor Cook
Editor, ACQNET-L
