I actually use another UK source for all my French imprints from
France or Belgium. Dawson Books is an excellent supplier and I have been
using them for quite some time now. They ship to Canada and bill in
Canadian funds. They have the payments deposited into the Bank of Montreal,
so there are no foreign cheques to be issued. If you would like contact
information feel free to contact me directly at

Good luck,

The Emory University General Libraries used Aux Amateurs du Livres for
more than a decade; in general, their performance, especially with
firm orders, was quite good. Their North American liaison is Edna Laughrey,
former head of Acquisitions at the University of Michigan Library.
Edna's e-mail address is:

Hope this helps...

Hello,

We have been using Aux Amateurs du Livres for more than 15 years and are
very satisfied with the service - we use them for monographs (both short
orders and continuations) as well as serials. Billing, ordering, contact,
shipping, etc. are all very efficient.

We also use Brockhaus for German books and I know they do French
imprints as well. They are very professional and would no doubt do a
good job, but I always prefer to order from country of origin if possible.

We have been working on transferring our LSA list to either Swets
Blackwell or Touzot. We have had good luck with these vendors in the past
for French materials. Touzot's address is 38, rue Saint-Sulpice, 75278
Paris Cedex 06, FRANCE email: jtouzot_at_world.net

We have done limited business with Rowecom France (under their former
name Dawson France) for subscriptions. Our list is so small that I can
only say we haven't had any serious problems, I can't really provide a
substantive evaluation.

Good luck!

Susan

Hello,

At Universite Libre de Bruxelles, we buy our French books from Belgium
suppliers. As you mention Blackwells UK, we don't work with them.
But we have a supplier in UK for English books. What I know is that
this firm supplies French books for English academic libraries. As our
supplier for English books for many years now, we are very happy about
pricing and services.

This supplier is :
